Celebrating Democracy: International Day of Democracy at the Rwandan Parliament

Today 31/Oct/2024 Rwanda joined the global community in celebrating the International Day of Democracy, marking a significant occasion to reflect on the values that underpin democratic governance. The festivities took place today at the Rwandan Parliament, where government officials, civil society representatives, and members of various political parties gathered to acknowledge the importance of fostering democracy in the nation. Among the notable attendees was Ambassador Hon Dr. Frank Habineza, the President of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda. In his remarks on X , Dr. Habineza emphasized the critical opportunity this day presents to reinforce and uphold democratic values enshrined in the Rwandan constitution. He particularly highlighted essential components such as freedom of speech, civil liberties, and the rule of law, which form the bedrock of a thriving democractic Society. The International Day of Democracy serves as a reminder of the importance of democratic principles in ensuring justice, equality, and respect for human rights.

Uyu munsi mukuru wabereye mu Nteko ishinga amategeko y’u Rwanda, aho abayobozi ba leta, abahagarariye sosiyete sivile, n’abayoboke b’imitwe ya politiki itandukanye bateraniye hamwe kugira hakomeze gushimangira no kwimakaza ihame demokarasi mu gihugu. Perezida w’ Ishyaka riharanira Demokarasi no kurengera Ibidukikije mu Rwanda (DGPR Green Party) Amb Hon Dr. Frank Habineza, mu ijambo rye yanyujije kuri X, yashimangiye amahirwe akomeye uyu munsi utanga yo gushimangira no gushyigikira indangagaciro za demokarasi zikubiye mu itegeko nshinga ry’u Rwanda.
