Democratic Green Party of Rwanda Holds Eastern Province Congress and Inaugurates New Party Office Rwamagana, Rwanda – 26 September 2025 in Rwamagana

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda marked a major milestone in its political journey by successfully holding its Eastern Province Congress in Rwamagana District. This significant gathering comes on the heels of completed district congresses across the province, and was crowned by the official inauguration of a new party office strengthening the Green Party’s grassroots presence and regional influence.
The congress brought together party leaders, members, and supporters from all corners of the Eastern Province. The event was also honored by the presence of international guests from Kenya, Sweden, Denmark, Serbia, and Madagascar reaffirming their solidarity with DGPR -Green Party’s vision for a just, peaceful, and sustainable Rwanda.
In his keynote address, Dr. Frank Habineza, Party President, emphasized the importance of building strong, community-rooted structures. “Our strength lies in the people in empowering citizens to take ownership of their future,” he stated. He went on to highlight the importance of regional engagement and inclusive leadership as essential pillars in the party’s ongoing expansion across the country.

The inauguration of the new DGPR- Green Party’s office in Rwamagana was a highlight of the day, symbolizing a firm commitment to political accessibility and active participation at all levels. The new office is expected to serve as a hub for community engagement, political education, and coordination of party activities in this district.

International delegates commended DGPR- Green Party for its growth and steadfast adherence to Green principles. They underscored the significance of transnational collaboration in advancing environmental justice, democratic values, and sustainable development. “What we are witnessing here is not just political progress—it is the embodiment of shared global ideals,” noted one guest speaker from Sweden.

The congress was filled with color and spirit, featuring traditional music, dance, and vibrant cultural performances. These expressions of Rwandan heritage energized the event, reflecting the unity and enthusiasm that define DGPR-Green Party’s grassroots support.
During the proceedings, party members were reminded of the core principles of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, including non-violence, dialogue, participatory democracy, and environmental stewardship. Strong emphasis was placed on peaceful political engagement, with Commissioner of leadership and good governance, Mr Nkurunziza Damein, reiterating:
“Our party stands firmly against any form of bloodshed. We believe in elections, in dialogue, and in the democratic process.”
The congress also resulted in the establishment of new leadership structures in the province, with newly elected leaders pledging to work collaboratively to grow the party and enhance its impact across communities.
As DGPR- Green Party continues its national expansion and serves as a powerful testament to the party’s commitment to inclusive governance, environmental responsibility, and a peaceful, democratic Rwanda.
